Passenger is exactly the kind of nasty, propulsive B-horror I love. A young couple a few weeks into their van-life adventure witnesses a brutal highway accident — and then find themselves stalked by a demonic something that follows them no matter how far or fast they drive. André Øvredal (behind some of the more inventive horror of the last decade) directs, and he’s great at making dread feel physical. Melissa Leo turns up, which is a fun surprise for a road-trip creature feature. It’s from Paramount and it does not overstay its welcome. If you want a mean, relentless horror movie that keeps its foot on the gas, this one’s a blast.
