So this one’s been everywhere lately — a Good Morning America Book Club pick, and somehow it’s Sophie Stava’s very first novel, which is wild because it reads like she’s done this a dozen times. Count My Lies follows Sloane Caraway, a compulsive liar who talks her way into a nanny job for Jay and Violet Lockhart, a wealthy New York couple whose picture-perfect life obviously isn’t. That’s all I’ll give you, because half the fun is watching how fast the lies stack up and start wobbling. If you love a messy narrator you can’t quite trust and a domestic thriller that keeps yanking the rug, grab this one.
