Okay, Apartment 515 is the kind of true-crime story that sounds made up. Sportswriter Jeff Pearlman used to see this guy at preschool pickup — the friendly single dad who made balloon animals for the kids — and then learned he was on trial for murdering his millionaire ex-wife. That’s the setup: a part-time professional backgammon player in ritzy Westchester, a dead ex-wife, and a decade of Pearlman quietly chasing the truth all the way to a prison interview. It’s an Audible Original, episodes run about half an hour, and Pearlman’s personal tie to the whole thing gives it an uneasy I-actually-knew-him charge you rarely get. If you want a true-crime binge that’s tight and genuinely stranger-than-fiction, this is a great one. It’s on Audible.
