Widow’s Bay might be the most fun I’ve had with a new show this year. Matthew Rhys plays the skeptical mayor of a small New England island town whose residents insist the place is cursed — and who slowly starts running into enough supernatural weirdness to wonder if they’re right. It’s created by Katie Dippold (she wrote a ton of Parks and Recreation) with Hiro Murai directing, so it threads that tricky needle where it’s genuinely funny and actually creepy. People keep comparing it to Twin Peaks, and I get why. It’s on Apple TV+. If you like horror-comedy that has a real sense of place and doesn’t pick just one lane, start here.
